Imam (spiritual leader) of Naperville’s Al Andalus Mosque and major force in the effort to build the Al Andalus Library and Community Center. Born in Cairo, Egypt to a middle class family. Came to the US in 1991 at the age of 18 to study civil engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Had relatives living in Naperville. Worked as a civil engineer for several years before becoming a full time imam in 2010. 42 years old.
Frank Sawa (Mostafa Khalil) was born in Detroit, Michigan, where he studied with the Bonstelle Theatre’s B.F.A. program and briefly abroad with the Moscow Art Theatre (Stanislavsky School). He has been a part of Chicago’s theatre scene for the last 8 years and was currently seen at Timeline Theatre in Inana and Remy Bumppo’s Love and Information. Frank is a proud supporter of The Chicago Inclusion Project.
